![]() Walk among the animals: Located seven miles south of Bandon, the West Coast Game Park offers an opportunity to walk along exotic animals such as leopards, cougars and tigers. You can see animals from all parts of the world including Burma and Cambodia. Gates are open daily from March to November. Stroll the Mall: The Pony Village Mall offers more than a nice shopping adventure. It's a great place to get some exercise during the rainy and windy winter days of Oregon. Walkers can be found here all hours of the day getting their daily exercise. Relax on a River: The south coast has many beautiful rivers just waiting for your exploration. They are great for site-seeing, picnicking, swimming and relaxation. There are far too many rivers to list here. Just obtain a good local map and you will find all of them in the area. Fish on the Spit: The north spit is an excellent place for fishing and site-seeing. Head north on highway 101 past the Conde D. McCullough Memorial Bride and turn left at Transpacific Parkway. Four-Wheeled Vehicles ONLY. Don't forget your fishing and camping gear. Clamming and crabbing can also be enjoyed in this area. Dune Fest 2004: The dune fest is from July 31st until August 3rd at Winchester Bay. The dunes racing events attract many visitors to the South Coast each year. The event features drag racing organized by the American Sand Drag Association. There are races for all ages and levels of expertise. To learn more about the Oregon Dunes visit this page. Go Bass Fishing: Enjoy the annual bass festival at the Tenmile Lakes in Lakeside. There is a two day tournament sponsored by the Tenmile Bass Club - registration is required. There is an entry fee and all boats must be insured. Those catching the largest bass will receive a prize. The entrance fee covers costs for two barbecue chicken dinners. |
