I took this picture at one of my favorite spots for finding all species of Oregon birds. The birds always come back for our lovely spring and summers, but very few make Oregon their home for the year. I've looked through all my bird guide books and although I haven't found a Cedar Waxing Bird of this exact color I have found quite a few pictures where the birds look almost identical except for the body color - and it's only a slight shade darker. A good hint to the type of bird is it's crown and the red markings on it's wings. Again, I was using my Nikon SLR with a very small focal point. You'll find that when taking pictures with a small focal point you'll sometimes get some beautiful backgrounds. The background in this picture is a small pond surrounded by flowers. Water will often give a great background with a small focal point, but if you want the entire picture in focus widen your focal length and the background gets clearer, although you lose the crispness of your focal object (like the bird in this picture). I try and shoot certain pictures with various settings and then share my favorite, but again time does not often permit especially when you are taking pictures of moving objects. Just a hint from a fellow photographer.
