**Clamming Closure**

Filed under: Uncategorized — CoosBlues @ 12:24 pm

All **razor clamming** is closed in the local area. The toxin levels are very, very high again. I’d recommend staying away from all clams until I hear something different. Very bad time of the year for this to happen as the spring/summer holds most of the best low tides of the year.

**Another Redesign**

Well, black got to be a bit hard even on my eyes so I’ve changed the colors to a rather light blue with a black text. I don’t think the photos look as good on that background but it’s easier to read and the aim of this web site is not all looks. It should help the pages load faster because of a few other things I’ve done. We shall see how long this look lasts. It didn’t last long. After uploading the new pages I’ve gone back to the black background – the photos just don’t “pop” on a different background.

**I’m a terrible webmaster**

Filed under: Uncategorized — CoosBlues @ 1:30 am

I do try and stay on top of the web site. There are changes I must make weekly in order to keep things fresh, but I sometimes get behind taking care of them. I just noticed that my tide tables are out of date as of yesterday. Now isn’t that really helpful. I’ll fix them. Another thing is my layout. I still can’t seem to find one I really like. The “webmaster way” to design a site is normally a white background with black lettering. Understandable – it’s the easiest for most to read – on the other hand they tend to all have the same feel. There are sites for which that is best, but a site like mine which has been pieced together over the past 2 years will forever change. I suppose because much of my site is photographic in nature I’ve chosen the black or dark background. The photos just look better on that background – quite bland on a white background. I like to see color and changes of color. Thus my use of a rollover and changing link color. My header which is actually a graphic file is always changing. It’s almost like I know what I want but I don’t quite know how to turn thoughts into a “program” which I then have to manipulate. I enjoy it all in the long run but please remember I’m not affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce. I just don’t have all the answers they do, nor do I care to have that information on my web site. They serve their purpose and I serve mine and more hopefully yours.

I’ve been ripping the computer apart again. Had some new hardware to install so I had the fun of toying with a few jumpers and some IDE cable that just didn’t want to cooperate. Finally finished the install – hardware worked fine but one key program would not recognize it so I had to search for one that would. Not a hard task but I get use to doing things one way and changing from a long used program to a new one wasn’t what I wanted to do.

Ok, I’m off to update those tide charts.

**A good day Fishing**

Filed under: Uncategorized — CoosBlues @ 12:23 pm

We started off this morning heading to Saunder’s Lake, but shortly after we arrived and the droves of people started coming in we headed back towards Coos Bay. We went out on the spit, but I didn’t have the right gear with me for sea-fishing so we headed into town and went to the Empire Lakes. I went out in the fishing tube and had terrible luck so I headed back to one of my favorite spots. When I got back the wife jumped up and showed me her very proud 17″ Trout and 4 others she had caught. We ended the day with quite a few bass and more trout than we needed. The picture in the top left of my header on the website is the fish my wife caught today but you can hardly tell after I played with the image in my editor. I’ll post the full photo and some others snaps we have since we started fishing again. I almost have enough put together to make a fishing page (long requested) and hope to get that up within the next couple of weeks. Tomorrow we are off to Shore Acres to hopefully get some better looks at the flowers – just not sure what the weather is. I guess I could check my web site for that info :) .
