In my past 12 years living on the Oregon coast there have been 2 tsunami warnings, but fortunately no tsunami’s materialized. The city of Coos Bay has added a number of warning sirens to help residents should a tsunami be poised to hit the coast. However, the sirens are far too few and not nearly loud enough to hear by most residents. We have one siren which is no more than a quarter of a mile from my house which is tested each Wednesday at noon. Even if I am outside I can barely hear the siren and the same is true for most residents. The city needs to amp up there efforts to provide louder and more sirens to protect the residents of Coos Bay, North Bend, Empire and Charleston Oregon. I have a page about Tsunamis which can be reached from my homepage which explains how tsunamis are formed and why the Oregon coast is a potential danger zone for an actual Tsunami. The page can also be reached by following this link about potential Tsunamis.
