This picture may have been shown on my site before, but as I was going through my collection of pictures I found it again and felt it was worth writing a short narrative. The old man carved into the old tree stump was obviously carved by someone with a great deal of woodworking skill. I've asked around and nobody seems to know who made the carving, and it is a location that's not easy to find unless you know where to look. You can find it as you drive South on Cape Arago Highway. Drive all the way to the end of the road and then follow the path down to the North side of the beach. There are certain times of the year you will not have access because it is closed when the seal pups are growing up so be sure to watch for the signs. This is just another reason why I love this area so very much. You never know what you might find around the next corner.
