Razor clamming is often CLOSED for certain areas of the Oregon coast. For a complete list of current closures please reference the Oregon Department of Agriculture for further updated information.

I would surely follow their suggestions and warnings. Clamming in Coos Bay and the surrounding areas of Charleston is OPEN to all clamming except razor clams, but areas further north may be closed. Again, please check with the Department of Agriculture or the local Fish and Game Departments if you have further questions. Local bait and tackle shops should be able to give you the specifics too. Good luck and enjoy this month's good clamming - just stay away from the razor clams. Please be aware that conditions change quite often during the year so always check with a local bait and tackle shop for the most current advisorys. It has been over a year since this razor clam ban went into effect, and I have yet to see or hear any information which might lift this current clamming ban. The O.D.F.W. is very good at keeping the public informed, and should there be a change on razor clamming I'll surely let you all know when it is safe.
