Spring has surely arrived, not too soon for most of us that live along the Oregon coast. The greenhouse at Shore Acres State Park has some of the most beautiful flowers in the area, and although I don't know the name of this flower it's beauty is breathtaking. The colors are vibrant and it is just reaching out ready to be pollinated. The greenhouse is used to get many flower species ready to be planted in the gardens at the State Park, and to anyone visiting I would surely recommend a trip to Shore Acres which is located off of Cape Arago Highway heading south past Charleston. The park is a great place to take the family, and from the park the beaches are only minutes away. This is a great time of year to go, and I'd also suggest taking a good pair of binoculars so you can watch the gray whales as they migrate back north for the summer. As you look for whales you want to keep an eye out for a "show" or "spout". They are quite numerous this time of year, and the mothers are with their newborn calves. Have a great time and just enjoy the Oregon coast.
