Free camping is no longer offered at the local Walmart. The change was made earlier this year (2008), and quite honestly I'm glad it's gone. The Bay area certainly needs it's tourists dollars and after years of free camping and parking at Walmart I'm happy to see the change made.
These are some pictures of the free campers from past years. The lot often got quite full during the peak of the summer and I'm glad to see those spots will now be "paid" spots in a campground. I strongly suggest that if you want to truly enjoy your stay in the area that you visit one of the many camp grounds or RV Parks that are very plentiful in the immediate area.
