A couple of years ago the Frensel Lens was removed from the Cape Arago Lighthouse. The lighthouse currently has no working light and I was rather perplexed when it was removed. I took this picture of a Frensel Lens which lights the many lighthouses all over the world at the local Coast Guard Station. The lens itself is a work of art, and the amount of light they produce can be seen at least 13 miles out to sea. This is a good place to read more about the Frensel Lens.
