The Oregon winter during 2011 - 2012 has been long and cold along the coast. There has been a mixture of rain, snow, high winds and very cold temperatures throughout the winter with very few sunny days. This is not uncommon for the Oregon coastline, and the stormy wave videos on this page were taken on a rare sunny day just after a major winter storm passed through the bay area. The ocean had swells of well over 20 feet. The waves hit the shoreline with such force that the spray from the waves often reached heights of well over 100 feet. I strongly recommend that if you ever get the chance to visit the Oregon coast just after a large storm has passed through that you head to the beaches and enjoy the majestic Oregon scenery. Please be careful!
After a very recent storm along the Oregon coast the sun came out for the afternoon on 1 April 2012. I took two movies of the high surf and the very high wave action.
