The Upper and Lower Empire Lakes are located off of Newmark
Avenue. Heading west they will be found not far from the local
Wal Mart on the right hand side of the road. Each of the lakes
offer some good trout and bass fishing along with nice trails and
walking paths to take a very nice hike. I've also found it a
wonderful place to take photographs. The preferred baits for most
fisherman are worms and various power baits. I personally prefer
lures of various types - most spinners work well if you can get
out on the lakes. Power boats are not permitted although you may
use an electric trolling motor. Float tubes can get you into the
hard to reach spots and is how I fish. I've taken a number of
17" trout and countless smaller ones. The lakes are often
stocked so fishing is quite good most times. My main focus on
this page are the pictures. I've hiked the lakes countless
times and these are a few of my favorites.
