New Oregon Shellfish License Requirments: As of January 1, 2004 a license is required to harvest shellfish. The cost to Oregon residents is $6.50 per year, and to non-residents the cost is $16.50.

Crabbing


Bay, estuaries, beaches, tide-pools, piers and jetties are open all year. Ocean Dungeness crabbing is closed from August 15 through November 30.

Havest methods. You may use crab rings, pots, or baited lines. Limited to 3 rings, pots, or lines per person. You may also use your hands, a dip net, or a rake.

Size: Measured in a straight line across the back immediately in front of, but not including the points. Please see the photo at the end of this section.

Undersized and female Dungeness crabs and unwanted rock crabs must be immediately released unharmed.

No more than 2 daily catch limits of Dungeness crabs (24) in total, or red rock crabs (48) in total may be kept in a trap of live box. Holding devices are prohobited in the Pacific Ocean.

Crabs may not be mutilated so that the sex, size, or species cannot be determined prior to landing.


How to measure Dungess Crabs

Clamming:

It is unlawful to remove clams from their shells before leaving the harvest area.

Each digger must have their own container, dig their own clams and may not posses more than one limit while in the harvest area.

Unbroken butter, cockle, or littleneck clams can be returned in the immediate harvest area. All other clams regardless of their size and condition must be retained. To see that these clams look like please visit my clamming photograph page.

Razor Clams - First 15 taken.

Bay Clams - Butter, cockle, littleneck and gapers - 20, of which only 12 may be gaper clams.

Softshell and other clams: First 36 taken.

Oysters: Havesting of native oysters is prohibited. Cultered oysters are private property and may not be taken without the owner's permission.
