I went walking on the beach today with my dog, and on our way back we ventured off the beach inland about 100 yards. I actually was looking for birds, but for one reason or another this moss-growing-tree caught my eye. I normally carry a tripod, but since I had my dog on the leash carrying a tripod was out of the question. There ar surely signs of Spring in the air, and I did see a few flowers starting to bloom, but I have 1000's of flower photographs and didn't feel at this time I need to capture the flowers so early in bloom. As I was watching for birds which seemed to be coming from the direction of this tree the light just seemed to capture the tree and as I looked at it through my viewfinder in my Nikon SLR it just captivated me, and after looking at the 100 plus pictures I took on my walk this one actually stood out. I know every photographer looks through the lens differently, but this was a special picture to me. It was also the first time my puppy had seen the beach and we had a great day together. I did use Google's Picassa program to edit this picture. You can find the link to download this program for free by following the link at the top of this page. I did a bit of cropping, and I toned down the colors a bit because I was shooting almost directly into the sun - not the best situation for a photographer.
