MyrtleWood Trees

I took this picture at a State Park not far from town called Nesika. Oregon is one of the few places in the world where the Myrtle wood tree grows. The tree is made of very hard wood which makes it excellent for making furniture and other wooden items. The tree is also mentioned in the Bible and has special significance. It has a unique fragrance and is also used for making wreaths and canes. In the Bible (Zechariah 1:8) it mentions God standing among these beautiful trees. Please note that these trees cannot be cut down without a permit!

The park is also an excellent place to fish for trout; it has an excellent swimming hole and there is an abundance of crawdads to be found. It's quite easy to come home with a very nice meal if you are lucky enough to catch a nice trout and grab some crawdads.
