Reflections Under the Bridge

This picture is of a bridge heading towards Allegany which is just west of the city. Quite often when I'm taking pictures I look for reflections in the water, and on this particular late fall day the sun was in the perfect position to cast some nice reflections on the river. I actually took this picture from the car. I had my Nikon SLR set on manual and set the shutter speed as fast as possible for the conditions and my rate of travel. I chose not to center the bridge in this picture, and I'm quite happy with the overall picture. The reflections of the bridge and the late fall foliage cast almost a perfect mirror into the river. The water was very calm; the day was clear and the sun was shining. That's not a very often occurrence this time of year in this area, and everyone that lives here surely enjoyed the sunshine while it lasted. The storms have moved in again for what could be a long, wet winter. Rainfall levels for the year so far are normal, and that is a great sign for the New Year to come as it will fill the rivers and make for a nice snowy season in the mountains.
