I found this map interface at Google Maps and I find it thoroughly interesting, and it will also help you understand just where the city is in relation to the bays and the ocean. The map can cover the entire country if you zoom out far enough, but I've chosen the coordinates for this area. I may develop another page with a map of local cities, but for now please enjoy this new feature.
I've often been asked just where the city is located in relation to the Pacific Ocean, and as you can see the city is really on a peninsula and the ocean is a few miles from the center of the city. To reach the ocean head west once you enter the city - there are many signs pointing you in the direction of the beaches. You'll get you first clear view of the ocean as you head down Cape Arago Highway, and you will be able to see the lighthouse in the distance.
This will be your first ocean view and off in the distance is the Cape Arago Lighthouse and Jetty.
Please just don't take your eyes off the road; there are deer, elk, and other obstacles in the area and there are far too many avoidable accidents.
