The Sea Lion Caves of Oregon

I took this picture with one of my older cameras, but I'm still quite happy with the quality. Taking nighttime or early morning pictures can be a challenge, but with the right shutter delay you can take some very nice low-light pictures.
This picture is from the outside of the Sea Lion caves which is located close to Newport on Highway 101. It is a very popular tourist attraction and well worth the stop should you venture there on your vacation. Once inside you can ride the elevator down to the caves; once in the caves you'll get some great views of the sea lions as they lounge around on the rocks. They seem to love to pose for pictures, but I must caution you that flash pictures are not allowed. There is also a nice display with lots of information and a case which holds the skeleton of a deceased sea lion. They can grow to be very large and have a voracious appetite. The caves official sea lion website is here. I haven't been for a few years, but it is surely a worthwhile trip and if you have young children they will just love the caves. I also have a page of pictures of sea lions here. Have fun.
