Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and Park (picture) is located in Newport, Oregon. People have often wondered why this lighthouse was built just three miles from Yaquina Head (picture). It was closed only three years after it was completed in 1871. It had a fifth order lens which is now long gone but after lots of neglect the lighthouse has been restored and the light was again light in 1996. There is a nice gift shop in the basement, the inside is filled with furniture to fit the period. You can find the house at the North end of the Yaquina Bay Bridge .
